Chuck Mohan Again Leads DU Men's Track & Field

April 19, 2003

Results

Akron, Ohio - Duquesne sophomore Chuck Mohan (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) again paced DU's men's track and field squad with two silver medals at the Akron Quadrangular Meet Saturday at Lee Jackson Field on the Univerisity of Akron's campus. The Dukes finished in fourth place in the four- school competition.

Mohan took second in the shot put and the discuss throw. He bettered his own school record in the shot put, set just last weekend at UVa's Lou Onesty Invitational, with a toss of 51 feet 09¾ inches (15.79 meters). His prior mark was 48 feet 7¼ inches.

Three DU football players also compete for Coach Jim Lear, including two seniors -- Jeremy Conley (Pittsburgh, PA / Allderdice) and Leigh Bodden (Hyattsville, MD / Northwestern) -- who have worked out for NFL football teams prior to next weekend's 2003 draft. Along with junior Yardon Brantley (Reading, PA/Reading Central Catholic), the trio accounted for 15 of the team's 71 points.

Next on Duquesnse's schedule is the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA. This reknowned event runs from Thursday, April 24, 2003 through Saturday, April 26th.

Note: The official title is the Penn Relay Carnival. For more information, please click here.
