Dukes Set Relay Record At Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. - Duquesne University's 4 x 800 meter relay team set a new school record Saturday at the 2004 Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The Dukes completed the race in 7:44.21 which was would good for sixth place in the 14 team event. This broke the school record of 7:51.25 set by freshmen E.J. Robertson and Joe Kotzur and sophomore Bryan Herdman and Gary Malinko last month at the Raleigh Relays.

The Dukes won their 10-team distance medal relay on Friday in other competition at the 110th Annual Penn Relay Carnival. That same day, junior Chuck Mohan finished seventh in the 26-man discuss throw. Junior Ryan Bender finished 19th in the 35-runner 10,000 meter championship on Thursday.

The Dukes next head to Richmond, Virginia for the 2004 Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sat-Sun, May 1-2, 2004.
