800 Meter Team Crushes Record At Penn Relays

April 30, 2005

Philadelphia, Pa. - Duquesne University's 4 x 800 meter relay team crushed the school record Saturday at the Penn Relays on Franklin Field. On a rainy track, Duquesne finished third in their 11-team heat with a time of 7:36.57.

The Dukes broke the previous mark (7:44.01) set at last month's Raleigh Relays by 7.44 seconds. This was the only event for DU's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams on the final day of this prestigious competition.

The Dukes are back in action next weekend in Richmond, Va. in the two-day Atlantic 10 Championships beginning Saturday May 7, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at Sports Backers Stadium.

Richmond is also hosting the A-10 lacrosse championships next weekend. The Dukes are among the four teams that have clinched playoff berths. The first semifinal begins on Friday, May 6th at 5:00 p.m. at UR Stadium.
