DU 800 Meter Relay Team Finishes Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. - Duquesne University's men's track and field 800 meter relay team completed the Red and Blue competition in the Penn Relays Saturday at UP's Franklin Field. DU's teams combined to set three new school marks this weekend.
The quartet of seniors Zack Dorman (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) and Gary Malinko (Old Forge, PA / Scranton Prep), junior Ed Guelfi (Long Beach, WA / New Mexico Military Inst.) and freshman Tim Majewski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) completed the race in 7:46.68, 13th in the top section of this competition, and 23rd overall.
The same foursome set a new Duquesne record (9:56.81) in the Distance Medley Relay on Friday.
The women's team set two DU marks on Thursday. Sophomore Samantha Howard (Moon Twp., Pa. / Moon) brook the previous 5000 meter record with a time of 17:14.57. The second women's mark (3:53.29) was set by the 400 meter relay team of senior Kristen Micsky (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds), sophomore Erica Moody (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic), freshmen Kathleen Parker (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) and Ashley Earnest (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona).
The Dukes next head to the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7, 2006 at Charlotte's Irwin Belk Track & Field Center.
The women's team was a school-best second and the men were third, also a new school standard, at last season's competition in Richmond, Va.
