Men's Track & Field Places Fifth at Atlantic 10 Championship

CHARLOTTE - Duquesne's men's track & field team broke seven school records and claimed seven medals in finishing fifth at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship at Charlotte May 7-8. Mark Bucklaw, Jim Spisak and Mike Stolar were all named Second Team All-Conference for finishing second in their respective events.

Bucklaw captured second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:51.06. He was followed by Spisak in third place in 3:51.54.

Spisak grabbed his silver medal in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:40.76 while Stolar earned his in the 10,000 meter run in a Duquesne season-best time of 29:58.09.

Capturing two third place finishes and breaking two school records was Vibert Defreitas. He broke Leigh Bodden's nine-year old school record in the long jump with a leap of 23-06.75 and narrowly missed topping his own school record in the triple jump with a bronze medal distance of 47-00.25. He also set a new DU standard in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.80.

The team's other third place showing came in the 4x800 meter relay which was ran in a school record time of 7:28.22.

Also breaking school records were Paul Blinn in the 100 meter dash in 10.69, Brian Uhrinek in the javelin in 181-03.50 as well as the 4x100 meter relay in 41.94 and the 4x400 meter relay in 3:14.35.
