IC4A Results

Sophomore Jim Spisak placed fourth of 36 runners in the 5,000 meter run at the IC4A Championship with a school record time of 14:04.26 and qualified to compete in the 2011 NCAA Track & Field Championship - East Preliminary to be held May 26-28 in Bloomington, Ind. He will join senior Mike Stolar who qualified for NCAA's in the 10,000 meter run with his time of 29:59.09 at the Atlantic 10 Championship.

This marks the second time in school history that two Dukes qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the same season. Previous NCAA qualifiers include Tom Slosky who qualified in the steeplechase three times from 2006-08 and Derek Dutille who qualified in the steeplechase in 2008 and 2009.

Following the NCAA rule change in 2010, the preliminary rounds of the NCAA Outdoor Championships are made up of two Regional sites, East (Bloomington, Ind.) and West (Eugene, Ore.). The top 12 finishers at both sites will advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake Stadium June 8-11.
