Track and Field Teams Complete Opening Weekend at Wake Forest

Duquesne's men's and women's track and field teams opened the outdoor portion of the schedule March 18-19 at the Wake Forest Open with several Dukes turning in top five finishes.

For the women, Autumn Greba posted a personal best time in the 5,000 meter run, finishing second in 17:33. Also placing second were Victoria Soeder with a long jump of 17-6 and Shannon Taub with a high jump of 5-5.

Paige Rittelmann placed third in the high jump with a 5-4, Abby O'Connell took fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 56.25 and Annegret Nehl finished fifth in the 800 in 2:15.80.

For the men, second place showings were turned in by Jeff Van Kooten in the 1,500 with a time of 3:53.38 and David O'Such with a 47.85 in the 400. Finishing fourth in the 400 was Mohamed Cisse with a time of 48.28 while Christian Kazanjian placed fourth in the 5K with a P.R. of 14:47.

In addition, Kyle Trinch broke his own school record in the 110 meter hurdles with a 14th place time of 15.13.

Both teams return to action on Friday, April 1 as they compete in the two-day Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.
