Three Dukes Named to Academic All-Conference Team

Duquesne University seniors Ryan Bender (Indiana, PA / Indiana) and Chuck Mohan (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) and sophomore Mike Murawski (Cinnaminson, NJ/Holy Cross) have been named to the ten-man Atlantic 10 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the conference office. In addition, Bender was honored as the Atlantic 10 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year.

Bender, who has a 3.87 grade point average in pharmacy, is now a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree in both cross country and outdoor track and field. He also is a two-time Atlantic 10 Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year, a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and the Duquesne University male Student Athlete of the Year. Bender won a silver medal in the 10,000 meter run at the 2005 Atlantic 10 Championship with a time of 31:05.28 and placed fifth at A-10's in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:55.93

Chuck Mohan


Mohan receives his first A-10 academic honor after being named the 2005 Atlantic 10 Championship Most Outstanding Field Performer. He set new school records in winning the discus event and the hammer throw as he led the Dukes to an all-time best third place finish. A liberal arts major with a 3.15 gpa, he will compete in the NCAA Regionals in both events later this month.

Mike Murawski


Murawski was crowned the Atlantic 10 champion in the high jump with a school record and IC4A qualifying height of 6-08.25. He also placed fifth at A-10's in the pole vault with a height of 13-03.50 and helped the Dukes finish fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.44. A multimedia major with a 3.33 gpa, Murawski also competed in the long jump and pole vault for the Dukes.
