Dukes Split Opening Dual Matches at Pitt

Belmont Abbey Results | Pittsburgh Results

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne University's wrestling team split their first dual matches of the season on Saturday in the University of Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Field House. The Dukes topped Belmont Abbey (NC), 44-5, but lost to the host Panthers, 31-6.

Senior Mark Himes (Brookville, PA/Brookville) won both of his 174 pound bouts, topping Pitt's Kyle Deliere and the Division II Crusaders' Mark Blair to improve to 11-9 overall this season.

In the other matches, Pitt topped Slippery Rock, 28-9. The Rock rebounded for a 40-6 victory over the North Carolina visitors.

The Dukes next head to Charlottesville, Va. for the Virginia Duals on Friday and Saturday, January 13-14, 2006.
