Chris Horvat Leads DU To 7th Of 44 At Lehigh

Bethlehem, Pa. - Junior Chris Horvat led Duquesne's men's cross country team to 7th place of 44 teams in the 32nd running of the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday at Lehigh University's Goodman Course. The Dukes entered the competition ranked 10th in the United States Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region.

Horvat's time of 24:17.8 over the 8K run was good for 14th place in the 300-runner competition. Five Dukes finished in the top 100 for the team's average time of 24:51.0.

Sophomore Tom Slosky was 42nd at 24:44.7 and freshman Josh Eddy's mark of 24:48.8 was 52nd. Seniors Kevin Borrelli (25:10.7) and Zack Dorman (25:12.8) crossed the line in 87th and 90th places, respectively.

Georgetown win the team trophy with an average time of 24:26.8 while St. Francis of Loretto's Ryan Sheehan won the individual honors finishing in 23:52.6.

Other Atlantic 10 programs at this meet were La Salle (no. 2), Charlotte (#15), Saint Joseph's (#18), Richmond (#29), Massachusetts (#34), George Washington (#40) and Rhode Island (#44).

The Dukes next competition is back in Pittsburgh on Saturday, October 8, 2005, at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
