DU Runners Finish 4th at NCAA Pre-Nationals

Terre Haute, Indiana -- - Duquesne men's cross-country team took fourth place in their 24-team heat at the NCAA Pre-Nationals hosted by Indiana State University on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. The Dukes were paced by senior Dave Eldridge (Black Lick, PA / Blairsville) who completed the 8,000 meter course in 15th place at 25:43.0 followed by sophomore Ryan Bender (Indiana, PA / Indiana) at 25:43.5 which was good for 16th among the 151 team runners. A total of 254 runners competed in this heat; 733 participants overall in three heats. Three freshmen helped DU to its fourth place finish as Zack Dorman (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) finished at 25:49.5 (22nd), Bryan Herdman (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) at 26:09.7 (45th) and, Jeff Hite (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Salem) at 26:16.3 (T54). The Dukes are off until Saturday, November 2, 2002, when the Red and Blue host the Atlantic 10 championships at Pittsburgh's Schenley Park.
