Tom Slosky Finishes First at 2007 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship/Dukes Finish Third Overall

PHILADELPHIA - Duquesne's Tom Slosky held off La Salle's David Alfano to take the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Championship Saturday afternoon at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
Slosky crossed in 25:39, four seconds ahead of Alfano. Despite falling with about 300 meters remaining, Slosky became the program's first-ever individual champion. He finished runner-up a year ago to La Salle's Sean Quigley.
Overall, the Dukes finished third with 91 points behind La Salle (37) and Richmond (54).
Derek Dutille placed 10th overall finishing in 26 minutes flat. He was followed by E.J. Robertson (21st/26:23), Josh Eddy (28th/26:39), Scott VanKooten (31st/26:48), Mark Bucklaw (33rd/26:51), Travis Dean (35th/26:52), Erik Anderson (40th/26:57), Shane Sarver (47th/27:08), Tim Majewski (66th/27:40), Mike Stolar (70th/27:48) and Brent Rogus (75th/27:53).
On the women's side, Emily Beahan finished third overall with a time of 18:38 leading DU to a fifth place finish. Samantha Howard placed 10th overall with a time of 18:38. Sara Cimino crossed 24th (19:52) followed by Katelyn Baldys (44th/20:26), Kate Szymaszek (51st/ 20:35), Carly Brickett 61st (20:53), Danielle Werley (71st/21:04).
