Red and Blue Finish Sixth at NCAA Regional

Nov. 16, 2008

Duquesne's men's cross country team placed sixth of 24 schools at the 2008 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at Princeton on Saturday. Seniors Josh Eddy and Derek Dutille paced the Dukes in 13th and 14th place respectfully out of 171 runners, narrowly missing an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship. Both runners were named to the All-Region team, marking the first time in school history Duquesne had two All-Region runners.

Eddy led the Dukes in 13th place with a time of 32:35 on the 10-kilometer course. Just second behind in 14th place was Dutille with a time of 32:42. Rounding out the top five were sophomore Mike Stolar in 31st in 33:22, senior Shane Sarver in 44th in 33:52 and sophomore Erik Anderson in 64th in 34:30.

The Dukes accumulated 168 team points, nine shy of fifth place Saint Joseph's. The sixth place showing ties the highest Duquesne has ever finished. It is the fourth straight top 10 finish in the region for the Dukes.
