Duquesne University cross country runners Jim Spisak

(Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Bob Gasior
(Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) received Atlantic 10 weekly awards for the week ending Sept. 2. Spisak, a senior, was the men's Performer of the Week, Valimont, a junior, was the women's Performer of the Week and freshman Gasior was the men's Rookie of the Week.
Spisak dominated the 59-runner field as the Dukes went 5-0 at the Duquesne Duals. The two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference honoree won the race by one minute, 22 seconds with a time of 24:54 on the 8K course, tying his career best time set at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship.
Valimont finished first of 75 runners with a time of 18:13, winning the 5K race by eight seconds. Her time topped her finish at last year's Duquesne Duals by over 30 seconds.
Gasior finished fifth of 59 runners with a personal best time of 26:32.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, Sept. 14 as they compete in the National Catholic Championships at Notre Dame.
