DU Collects Both A-10 MXC Weekly Awards

Duquesne University cross country runners Jim Spisak (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) and Bob Gasior (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) received Atlantic 10 weekly awards for the week ending Sept. 30. Spisak, a senior, was the men's Performer of the Week while freshman Gasior was the men's Rookie of the Week.
Spisak earned his third Men's Performer of the Week honor this season after placing third out of 332 runners in the Gold Race at the Paul Short Invitational this past week hosted by Lehigh University. The Johnstown, Pa., native completed the 8k course in 24:00 and was the first Atlantic 10 runner to cross the finish line. The Dukes finished 12th out of 37 teams, improving their 25th place finish from 2011.
Gasior earned his second Men's Rookie of the Week honor of the season after finishing the Gold Race at the Paul Short Invitational with a time of 25:42. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native was the first Atlantic 10 freshman to cross the finish line, placing 128th out of 332 competitors, and helped his team to a 12th place overall finish.
The Red and Blue return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 as they compete in the NCAA Division I Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ken.
