Rachel Wojdowski enters her fourth season on the Duquesne women's basketball staff - her first as assistant coach after serving a director of basketball operations the past three seasons. She joined the women's basketball staff after a successful five-year professional playing career overseas which included stops in Bulgaria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Holland. A 2000 graduate of Bethel Park High School, Wojdowski averaged 17.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game and led the Black Hawks to a 19-9 record during her junior season in 1998-99. She missed the majority of her senior season after an ACL tear. In 2011, she was inducted into Bethel Park Athletic Hall of Fame. Wojdowski joined the Dukes' team as a walk-on for the 2001 season, but transferred to UNC Wilmington where she played under current Duquesne head coach Dan Burt. After leading the Seahawks to a 22-6 season in 2003, she reinjured her ACL. She opted to finish her collegiate career at New York University and averaged over 16 points per game for the Violets while being named a two-time Division III Player of the Year. Wojdowski started her coaching career as an assistant coach at Peters Township High School. In the summer of 2011, Wojdowski played her first season with the Pittsburgh Passion of the Women's Football Alliance. She was named 1st Team All-American after catching 17 passes for 350 yards and eight touchdowns. Wojdowski's father, Jack, was a three-year varsity player for the Dukes from 1971-73 and led DU to a 57-17 record and an appearance in the 1971 NCAA Tournament during his time on the Bluff. |
