PITTSBURGH – In their final non-conference game of the 2008-09 season, the Duquesne women’s basketball team fell to visiting Missouri 76-65 Saturday afternoon at the Palumbo Center.

Kristi Little scored a season-high 24 points and Rachel Frederick added 17 for the Dukes who finished the non-league slate 10-5. Frederick led DU with seven rebounds and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line.

Alyssa Hollins led the Tigers with 19 points and Christine Flores scored 19 off the bench to lead Mizzou (8-4).

Duquesne and Missouri played the first 10 minutes close – there were two ties and four lead changes. An Amanda Hanneman 3-pointer midway through the first half broke an 18-18 tie and started a 22-10 MU run that would give the visitors a 40-28 lead at halftime.

The Dukes would cut the Tigers’ lead to eight points three times in the second half, the last being at the 10:18 mark. But a 14-4 Mizzou run over the next four minutes put the game out of reach at 69-51.

A Little 3-pointer at the 1:36 mark closed out the scoring, with Missouri coming away with the 76-65 victory.

Missouri hit 14-of-25 (.560) attempts in the second half and added eight blocks.

After an 11 day break, DU will open the Atlantic 10 Conference season at Xavier Jan. 14. The Musketeers are the two-time defending A-10 champions.

  • Little's previous season-high was 19 points vs. Niagara
  • Frederick has made 30 of her past 32 attempts from the foul line
  • This was the program’s first-ever game against a school from the Big 12 Conference
  • Little needs 24 points and Frederick needs 34 points to reach 1,000 for their careers
