PITTSBURGH - After being down by 16 points late in the 2nd quarter, Duquesne had its biggest come from behind victory in the Dan Burt era with a 64-61 win over Central Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
Julijana Vojinovic scored 13 of her team-high 20 points in the second half. Paige Cannon recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Chassidy Omogrosso added 14 points for the Dukes (10-2) who have won eight straight games.
Tinara Moore had a game-high 21 points for Central Michigan (8-2), whose 8-game winning streak came to an end.
CMU jumped out an early 15-2 lead holding the Dukes without a field goal for the first seven minutes of the 1st quarter. The Chippewas would stretched their lead to 16 three times -- the last coming with 2:15 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
A 3-pointer by Vojinovic made the score 42-29 heading into halftime.
Duquesne opened up the 3rd quarter on a 16-4 run to cut the deficit to one point at 48-47. It would remain a 1-point game at the start of the 4th quarter.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Vojinovic gave Duquesne its first lead of the contest at 58-55 with 6:58 remaining in the game. Duquesne would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.
Next up, the Dukes travel to Toronto to face #1 UConn in the season's final non-conference game. The Huskies (8-0) face Oklahoma on Tuesday night.
