Duquesne suffered a 71-50 non-conference loss at Western Kentucky Wednesday night, despite a 14 point effort from junior Loui Hall (Masontown, Pa./Albert Gallatin). The Dukes also got nine points from Marissa Smith and Maria Stankevich in the loss. WKU was led by Crystal Kelly's 32 markers.

Hall's three pointer at 18:13 put the first points of the game on the board, but the host Lady Toppers hit an 8-0 run for an 8-3 edge at 16:13. Hall would score 11 of the Dukes' first 14 points to aid in a 14-14 tie with 10:18 ticking. Western Kentucky rattled off an 18-2 run for a 32-16 advantage with 4:54 on the clock. Turnovers were costly for the Dukes during the spree as they committed 11 miss cues which resulted in 16 WKU points. Hall would net 16 of the Dukes 21 first half points. WKU would hold a 36-21 lead at the break.

Western Kentucky opened the second frame out-scoring the Dukes 12-6 for a 48-26 lead with 16:26 to go. The Lady Toppers extended their lead to 56-28 with 11:50 remaining and out-rebounded the Dukes 14-4 in the span, eight of which were offensive boards. A 6-0 Duquesne run put the score at 34-56, but WKU would not falter and held a 60-34 margin with 7:42 to go in the game. The Dukes executed a 17-4 scoring drive led by Marissa Smith's 3-3 effort from behind the arc, but the Lady Toppers would go on to take a 70-51 victory over the visiting Dukes.

Duquesne was out-rebounded 41-22 for the game and out-shot .458 (27-59) to .359 (4-39) from the field. Turnovers were costly for the Dukes who committed 23 in the contest resulting in 26 WKU points.

The Dukes fall to 4-6 on the season while Western Kentucky improves to 10-2. The Dukes close out the year and their non-conference schedule this Friday in a 6:00pm tip at Ohio University.
