Women's Basketball Open Atantic 10 Play Saturday Afternoon Against Charlotte

GAME DAY INFORMATION:
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL OPENS ATLANTIC 10 SLATE SATURDAY: Duquesne (10-5, 0-0), coming off their third consecutive winning non-conference season, opens the A-10 schedule against defending conference champion Charlotte (7-7, 0-0) on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the A.J. Palumbo Center. The Dukes are coming off a 72-66 loss at Missouri on Jan. 2 while the 49ers defeated Clemson 64-57 on Jan. 4. Charlotte leads the all-time series 5-1, including an 81-57 victory in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship last season. The 49ers have won four straight games against the Dukes. The lone Duquesne win was a 56-45 upset in the quarterfinal round of the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championship. In their only appearance at the Palumbo Center, Charlotte defeated Duquesne 67-57 on Jan. 12, 2008.
ATLANTIC 10 OPENERS: The Dukes have not faired well in their Atlantic 10 opener, winning only five times in 26 games.
TOUGH TIMES AGAINST TAR HEEL TEAMS: The Dukes have not had much luck against teams from North Carolina, going 4-10 (.286).
LOOKING AHEAD: The Dukes will take to the road for a pair of games - Jan. 13 at St. Bonaventure and Jan. 17 at Fordham. The matchup against the Rams was originally scheduled for Jan. 16, but was changed so the game could be aired live on CBS College Sports.
