@DuqWBB to Host Mount St. Mary's in 1st Round of WNIT

PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne women's basketball team has accepted a bid to play in the 2014 Women's National Invitation Tournament. This marks the sixth straight post-season appearance for the Dukes.
Duquesne (19-12) will host Mount St. Mary's (19-13) on Friday, March 21st with a time to be determined.
The Dukes, who fell 45-41 to Atlantic 10 Champion Fordham in the quarterfinals of the league's tournament, have wins over NCAA Tournament participant Robert Morris in addition to defeating Fordham twice during the regular season.
Mount St. Mary's, who plays in the Northeast Conference, received the tournament's automatic bid by being the highest finishing team that is not playing in the NCAA Championship. The Mountaineers were 2nd in the NEC, finishing behind conference regular season and tournament champion Robert Morris.
Duquesne leads the all-time series 3-2, winning the past three contests. The teams last met on Nov. 18, 2009 at the Palumbo Center. The Dukes defeated the Mountaineers 88-63.
The winner of the Duquesne/Mount St. Mary's game will face winner of the Michigan/Stony Brook game in Round 2 of the event.

The Women's National Invitation Tournament is an annual tournament involving 64 of the nation's top women's Division I basketball teams. All games, including the semifinals and championship, are hosted by participating schools. Every round is single elimination. The WNIT 32 first-round games, followed by 16 second-round games, eight third-round games, four quarterfinal games, two semifinal games, and the championship. The championship game is televised live nationally. The event offers 32 automatic berths, one to each established conference, and 32 at-large berths.
