Women's Basketball Signs Emilie Gronas

"We are very excited to have Emilie join the Duquesne family. She will continue our long line of outstanding international players," said Burt. "Her proven ability to shoot 3-pointers will allow us to have better spacing on the floor next season."
Gronas, who will have two years of eligibility at Duquesne, after playing two seasons at Cowley Community College. In her sophomore season, the 5-7 guard averaged 21.6 points per game and was a NJCAA Division I All-American Honorable Mention as well as Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division First-Team All-Conference and Most Valuable Player. Additionally, she was named First-Team Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-Region VI.
Leading Cowley to 22-9 record this past season, Gronas capped her career by scoring the fourth most single-season points (562) in Cowley history. She led the Jayhawk East in 3-pointers made (94) and was second in three-point field goal percentage (45.4%) and free-throw percentage (87.1%) Gronas scored in double-figures in all 26 games played and recorded four 30-point games.
One of the best 3-point shooters in junior college, Gronas was ranked 3rd in NJCAA with 98 3-pointers and 6th with a 47.1 3-point field goal percentage.
As a freshman at Cowley, Gronas averaged 10.6 points per game, shooting 41.7 percent from the floor. She was 9th in NJCAA with 79 3-pointers while leading the Tigers to a 29-5 record and to the finals in the 2013 KJCCC Region VI Women's Championship. She was named to the KJCCC Region VI All-Tournament team.
Gronas also has international playing experience, representing Norway on the 2009 FIBA U18 European Championship team.
Majoring in international business, Gronas holds a 3.94 GPA and was named the January 2014 Cowley Female Student-Athlete of the Month.
