UDINE and CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI, Italy - Incoming Duquesne transfer Laia Sole recently led Spain to an eighth place finish at the 2017 U19 FIBA Women's World Cup in Italy.
In the Group B Phase, Spain finished 2-1 with victories over Egypt and Puerto Rico. In the Bracket Round, Spain defeated Italy 59-49 to advance to the Round of 16, where they fell to Japan 95-71.
Spain would go on to lose to France 55-53 and China 74-56 in the Classification Round.
In seven games, Sole finished averaging 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Her high game was 15 points in Spain's 88-71 win over Egypt.
Solé, who joined the Dukes in April from the University of Maine, will sit out the 2017-18 season under NCAA transfer rule and will be eligible to play during the 2018-19 season.
