Duquesne University announced today its 2002-2003 women's basketball schedule. Tenth-year Head Coach Dan Durkin faces a demanding non-conference slate highlighted by home games with teams from the Big 10, Big East and SEC.

Five of Duquesne's opponents advanced to post-season play last year, four of which will visit the Palumbo Center. Highlighting the home slate are bouts with Vanderbilt of the SEC and defending Atlantic 10 champion Temple. Both advanced to last year's NCAA tournament. Three WNIT teams also appear on the schedule as the Atlantic 10's Saint Joseph's and George Washington will hit the Palumbo hardwood and the Dukes face a possible match-up with Virginia Tech at the Hokies' tournament Dec. 28-29.

Three consecutive home games start the season as the Dukes host the Big 10's Ohio State on Nov. 22 followed by Lehigh Nov. 24. The three-game series wraps up on Nov. 27 with DU hosting James Madison in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader at the Palumbo.

Local rivalries continue with the Red & Blue heading to Robert Morris Nov. 30 while the Big East's Pitt comes to the Palumbo Center Dec. 3. The Dukes clash with 2002 SEC champion Vanderbilt on Jan. 6 at the Palumbo to conclude the non-conference slate. Vandy, which ranked #5 in the country with its 30-7 record last season, advanced to NCAA Elite 8 last year.

The Atlantic 10 season gets under way Jan. 3 as the Dukes travel to La Salle. Home league play begins with the Explorers as well with La Salle coming to the Palumbo Jan. 16. The season concludes with the A-10 championships Mar. 6-8 at Rhode Island's Ryan Center. The title game is slated for Mar. 10 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.

Season and individual game tickets can be reserved by calling the Duquesne University Box Office at 412-232-DUKE (3853).
