Jim Ferry and Dan Burt Participate in Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Madness

PITTSBURGH - On Wednesday evening, October 2, the American Cancer Society held its inaugural Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Madness reception at Heinz Field, raising more than $300,000 to support the American Cancer Society's mission to save lives from cancer.
Tip-Off Madness is hosted by the men's and women's head basketball coaches from the University of Pittsburgh (Jamie Dixon and Suzie McConnell-Serio), Robert Morris University (Andrew Toole and Sal Buscaglia), and Duquesne University (Jim Ferry and Dan Burt).
The event included a VIP reception and a live and silent auction. University of Kentucky men's head coach John Calipari spoke to the sell-out crowd and the Fighting Spirit Award was given to breast cancer survivor Laura Schatzkamer.
The evening concluded with roundtable Q&A session, which in included the coaches and media members: The Sporting News' Mike DeCourcy, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Paul Zeise and 93.7 The Fan's Andrew Filliponi. KDKA's Bob Pompeani was emcee for the evening.
Coaches vs. Cancer® is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers coaches, their teams and communities to join the fight against cancer. The recent success has led to the program's expansion at the high school and Division I, II and III college levels. Since its national inception in 1993, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised more than $95 million to support the American Cancer Society's mission to save lives from cancer.
