NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Duquesne women's basketball team, coming off back-to-back 20-win seasons and WNIT appearances, was picked to finish sixth in a poll of Atlantic 10 coaches released today as part of the league's annual media day.

This is the second consecutive season the Dukes have been picked sixth under head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio.

In addition, senior forward Samantha Pollino (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh Valley) was selected to the Atlantic 10 Conference Preseason Second Team and the Duquesne women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in a poll of the league's coaches.

Pollino, who was an All-Conference performer last season, led the Dukes with 12.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She finished 10th overall in the A-10 in rebounds per game and fifth overall with 94 offensive rebounds.

The top 12 teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship, to be held March 4-7 at The Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. First round action of the Championship tips off on Friday, March 4, with the top four teams earning a bye. Quarterfinal play continues on Saturday, March 5, with the Semifinal round on Sunday, March 6 on CBS College Sports. The Championship game will be held on Monday, March 7, and televised live on ESPN2 at 5:00pm ET.

Last year, for the second time in Conference history, the Atlantic 10 saw eight of its 14 member institutions competing in postseason tournament play last. Nationally-ranked Xavier, along with Dayton and Temple each received bids to the NCAA Tournament, while Charlotte, Duquesne, Richmond, St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's received invitations to the WNIT. Last season marked the fifth time in six years that the A-10 has fielded three teams in the NCAA Tournament, while tying a league record for most WNIT bids received (2009).
