Agunbiade Named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week
Nov. 28, 2011
Duquesne forward Wumi Agunbiade has been named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week after averaging 21.0 points and shooting 61.5 percent in the Dukes' two games last week.
Agunbiade recorded career-highs with 32 points, 12 field goals and 80% shooting in DU's 74-66 win over against North Dakota State. She also added a game-and-season-high three blocks against the Bison. She scored in double-figures for the fourth straight game with 10 points in Duquesne's 84-53 win over Davidson. Agunbiade added season-high four steals against the Wildcats.
This is Agunbiade's first A-10 Player of the Week award. She was named A-10 Rookie of the Week six times last season.
She shares the award with Fordham's Abigail Corning.
This marks the first time since Jan. 7, 14 and 21, 1997 when Korie Hlede was player of the week that Duquesne has won an Atlantic 10 weekly award three straight weeks.
The Dukes return to the court on Saturday when they host Ohio University at 2:00 p.m.
