Korie Hlede, who holds the Duquesne and Atlantic 10 all-time scoring record with 2,631 points, will be starting her sixth season in the WNBA, back with Detroit Shock but this time as an assistant coach.

Hlede was selected by the Shock in the first round (fourth overall) of the 1998 WNBA Draft. After a stint with the Utah Starzz, the Croatian native was traded to the Liberty prior to the 2002 season. Prior to the opening of the WNBA 2003 preseason training camps, the Shock re-signed Helde as an unrestricted free agent. Then during the 2003 camp, Hlede announced she would be moving to the bench as an assistant coach with the Shock.

She's averaged 8.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 22.9 minutes per game through her WNBA career.

The first DU player to have her jersey retired was traded to the Utah Starzz during the 1999 season then was traded to the New York Liberty prior to the 2002 campaign.

Hlede virtually rewrote Duquesne's women's basketball records book from 1995-98. A 1998 Women's Basketball News Service First Team All-American, she was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in 1995, A-10 Player of the Year in 1996 and 1998 and is Duquesne's all-time leading scorer with 2,631 points.

She is also second all-time in Atlantic 10 scoring, was third in the nation in scoring in 1998 and recorded the first triple-double in the program's history with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists versus Cleveland State.
