NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Olivia Farwell, DUQUESNE
Farwell posted the highest overall frame average of all NEC competitors at the 28-team Kutztown Invitational. The first-year Duke, who accounted for 22.27 pins per frame, threw 74 strikes in 120 attempts (.617). She took down at least nine pins on more than 80 percent of her first ball attempts. En-route to an .858 filled frames percentage, Farwell converted 21 of 23 single-pin spare opportunities. Landing on the All-Tournament Team, she recorded the third-highest traditional game average (228.8) of all bowlers at the meet. She kicked off Saturday’s traditional match schedule by throwing the first 300 game in Duquesne’s program history. After completing a perfect game in a runaway team win over Medaille, Farwell produced a 228-pin effort to lead the Dukes past Bethune Cookman. The freshman was nearly just as effective during the baker play portion of the three-day meet. Duquesne’s anchor bowler averaged 21.83 pins per baker frame. The four-time NEC Rookie of the Week is the first freshman to win the NEC Bowler of the Week award this season.
