NEC BOWLER OF THE WEEK
Megan Cook, DUQUESNE
Cook entered the starting lineup for Friday’s third match at the Golden Bear Invitational and proceeded to propel Duquesne to the tournament title. The second-year Duke averaged a team-high 19.40 pins per frame during the three-day event. She threw 49 strikes in 112 attempts (.438) and went 30-for-31 on single-pin spare attempts en-route to a team-leading .857 filled frames percentage. Cook turned up the heat during Sunday’s championship baker rounds. Helping the Dukes finish in first place by virtue of three consecutive best-of-seven victories, she left only five open frames all day. Cook was clean during 14 frames in the championship match, a dramatic, come-from-behind 4-to-3 victory over No. 11 Adelphi. The sophomore righty struck on 10 of 14 attempts in the title tilt.
NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Olivia Farwell, DUQUESNE
Farwell’s phenomenal freshman campaign continued with an All-Tournament Team selection and her league-leading sixth NEC Rookie of the Week award. The first-year Duke averaged 18.97 pins per frame at the Kutztown’s three-day Golden Bear Invitational. Helping Duquesne repeat as tournament team champion, Farwell threw 61 strikes in 136 chances (.449). The anchor bowler, who struck on 47.6 percent of her 10th frame attempts, filled 82.4 percent of frames over the course of 13 matches. Farwell, who left 15 splits during the all-baker style tournament, cashed in on 33 of 35 single-pin spare opportunities. The Keystone State product earned a spot on the Golden Bear All-Tournament First Team by virtue of the 19.09 baker frame average that she posted through 10 matches on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the rookie helped the Dukes escape with a 185-184 victory in Game 7 of the championship match against No. 11 Adelphi.
