Bowling Announces Inaugural Schedule
Aug. 18, 2016
PITTSBURGH - Head coach Jody Fetterhoff announced the inaugural Duquesne women’s bowling schedule today. The first-year program will travel to a minimum of three states to compete in 10 tournaments including a pair of Northeast Conference matches.
The Dukes open the 2016-17 season with an appearance at the Bud Whitman Memorial hosted by Kutztown University at Berks Lanes in Reading, Pa. on October 15-16.
The Dukes will conclude the month of October at the FDU Jamboree hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson at Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park, N.J. on the 28th through the 30th.
“Our first two tournaments, the Bud Whitman Memorial and FDU Jamboree, will be a really good test for our team, as both tournaments will most-likely have over 25 entrants,” said Fetterhoff. “We will get to see a lot of teams in these two tournaments, so it will give us a great sense of where we are and what we need to work on before our first Northeast Conference event in December.”
DU will complete in two events in November including the Virginia Union Invitational in Midlothian, Va. on Nov. 4-6 and the Roto Grip Raider Classic (USBC) on Nov. 12-13 in Dayton, Ohio.
The lone December event will be the first of two NEC matches on December 3-4 at a to be determined site.
The new year will see Duquesne travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Buckeye Baker Classic (USBC) on January 14-15, before returning to Pennsylvania for the Red Flash Invitational hosted by Saint Francis U in Altoona on Jan. 27-29.
February’s events include the Golden Bear Classic in Reading, Pa. on Feb. 10-12 and the second NEC meet at a to be determined site on Feb. 25-26.
The Dukes conclude the regular season at the Hawk Flight Invite in Egg Harbor, N.J. on March 3-5.
USBC Sectionals will take place on March 10-12, followed by the NEC Championship on March 25-26.
“The team will face a lot of good competition throughout their first season giving them valuable experience which will help them in the years to come,” said Fetterhoff who put together a six-person recruiting class. “We all are just really excited to get to work and can’t wait for our first tournament in October.”
