Danielle Werner enters her first season as the assistant coach of the Duquesne women's lacrosse team bringing a wealth of playing experience and determination to the program.
Werner was a four-year standout at Stony Brook from 2002-2006 who twice was named a first team All-American East pick (2003 & 2006). The three-year captain earned second team All-Conference honors in 2005 and was named to the All-Rookie squad in 2002. Werner played both as a midfield and defensive player over her four-year career and was selected to the America East All-Tournament team as a senior in 2006. She graduated as Stony Brook's career leader in goals (121) groundballs (167), caused turnovers (125) and draw controls (183).
She was name to the National Tournament Open Division All-Star team as a junior and senior and was selected as the Aimee Willard Award recipient in 2006 which honors the top collegiate player in the National Tournament.
Werner served as a coach for the Gambrills Odenton Recreation Council Wildcats Junior Division B squad in Maryland in 2002 and was an All-Star Express coach for Rising Juniors in 2004. She has assisted at East End Lacrosse Club try-outs, worked STX camp at Hun School and coached at numerous Stony Brook women's lacrosse camps.
The Gambrills, Md. native earned her bachelor's degree in business management from Stony Brook in 2006.
