DENVER - The Duquesne lacrosse team fell to 0-2 on the season after its 20-6 loss at the University of Denver on Monday evening.

The Dukes were outshot 49-11 in the loss.

Lauren Johnson scored a pair of goals and Kat McNish added a goal and an assist while Courtney Lambert picked up a career-high four ground balls for the Dukes.

Kara Secora scored a game-best four goals and five points for the Pioneers who improve to 3-2.

The Pioneers got off to a 5-0 lead before three straight goals by McNish, Katie Rekart and Elise Caldwell cut the deficit to two goals at the 9:53 mark of the first half.

Denver would answer with three goals of its own to take an 8-3 advantage with 4:08 left in the half. Cailin Colegrove closed out the first half scoring with a goal at the 53 second mark to send the game into halftime with the Pioneers ahead 8-4.

UD would dominate the second half, scoring 12 times. Johnson would score Duquesne's only goals of the half - a free position goal at 15:56 and an unassisted goal with six seconds remaining in the contest.

Sarah Beckstead made a career-high 16 saves for the Dukes who travel to Notre Dame on Saturday. The Dukes and Fighting Irish start at 6:00 p.m. UND was ranked 8th in the IWLCA preseason poll.
