Dukes Take Ohio 6-5 in OT

Duquesne's Ginger Flocco tallied four goals - including the overtime game-winner - as the Dukes posted a 6-5 win over Ohio Friday afternoon at Pruitt Field. The match was the 2005 opener for the Bobcats, while Duquesne improved to 2-1.
After playing scoreless for over seven minutes, the teams combined for four goals in just under four minutes. Gombeski tallied an unassisted goal 7:23 into the contest, but Flocco answered on a free position shot with 20:25 left in the period. The deadlock was broken just 59 seconds later Frannie Sullivan. However, Flocco evened the game at 2 with an unassisted strike just 43 seconds later, then gave the Dukes a 3-2 advantage at intermission with a goal 4:59 before the break.
Ohio tied the score with 22:54 left in regulation when Dana Dobbie scored, but Duquesne retook the lead at the 19:06 mark on a free position goal by Kelly Mulford. Bobcat freshman Shannon Hadaway made the score 4-4 with an unassisted goal at 15:46 before the game saw fireworks in the final minute.
With just 56 seconds remaining, Krista Mann put the Dukes ahead after taking a Flocco pass at the top of the circle. Ohio needed just 12 seconds to answer and force the extra session when Gombeski tallied her second of the contest on a free position shot.
The final tally came with just 16 seconds remaining in the first of two three-minute overtimes when Flocco converted a free position opportunity.
