Ohio State Knocks Duquesne, 14-2

Columbus, Ohio - Duquesne University's women's lacrosse team split their games this weekend in neighboring Ohio as the Dukes dropped a 14-2 match to The Ohio State University Saturday afternoon at OSU's North Turf Field. The Dukes are now 2-2; this was 1-0 OSU's season opener. Seniors Laura App (Silver Spring, Md. / Our Lady of Good Counsel) and Ginger Flocco (Plymouth Meeting, Pa. / Plymouth-Whitemarsh) scored second half goals. Sophomore Margaret Cloutman (West Chester, Pa. / West Chester) assited on App's goal at the 44:55 mark which ended the Buckeyes string of 10 unanswered scores, all in the opening 30 minutes. Senior Sarah Pacini (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker / Vanderbilt) recorded eight saves as OSU outshot the Dukes, 34-25. Flocco's goal was her fifth this weekend; she tallied four of DU's six markers in Friday's 6-5 overtime win over Ohio U. She and App tied OSU's Kelly Kremer with game-high eight shots. Kramer led the host's offense with four goals. The Dukes return to action on Saturday, March 12, 2005 when they take on Monmouth University. The game, the nightcap of a doubleheader, will be played in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saint Joseph's Finnesy Field at 4:00 p.m. The first match will pit the Hawks' men's team against Colgate at 1:00 p.m.
