Lacrosse Takes Monmouth 11-5

The Duquesne women's lacrosse team took an 11-5 victory over Monmouth Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest. The game was held on neutral grounds at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
App scored the game's first goal with an unassisted goal three minutes into action. Monmouth tied the contest :13 later on an unassisted score before Flocco and Mulford hit free postion goals to take a 3-1 lead midway through the half. App upped the lead to 4-1, but Monmouth found the back of the cage three times to knot the game at 4-4 with 4:34 to go in the frame. Courtney Tomasitis nailed a free position goal with 2:31 to take the 5-4 edge for the Dukes at the intermission.
Flocco scored twice in less than a minute to open play in the second stanza with an unassisted goal and a feed from Mulford for a 7-4 lead. Monmouth's Carolyn Raveia hit their only goal of the second half in the 34th minute for a 7-5 deficit, but they would be held scoreless for the remainder of the contest. Rounding out the game's goals was App with an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute, a free position goal from Stacie Pollock in the 43rd minute and a Tamasitis goal from Jennifer Lorenze in the 49th minute.
Sarah Pacini recorded 19 saves in 60 minutes of action for her third victory of the season.
The win puts the Dukes at 3-2 on the season.
Duquesne returns to play on March 22 as they face Vermont in Orlando, FL.
