Corning, New York - Duquesne University's lacrosse team defeated St. Bonaventure, 13-12, in sudden victory overtime Friday afternoon at Corning Memorial Stadium. Sophomore Meredith Williams scored the game winner 14 seconds into overtime.

The Dukes, up 6-4 after the first half, and kept their lead, scoring three goals early in the second period. Ginger Flocco netted the Dukes' final goal of regulation before the Bonnies rallied with four consecutive goals to tie the game 10-10. At 1:36 in the first overtime, the Bonnies scored, but six seconds later, Duquesne hit the back of the cage to tie the game at 11-11.

In the second overtime with 29 seconds remaining, senior midfielder Laura Spaulding (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) netted a goal to put the Bonnies up 12-11. With 11 seconds left, Duquesne's Kelly Mulford tied the game, 12-12, after netting a free position shot.

Krista Mann won the draw to take control of the ball and set up the game-winning goal for the Red & Blue as Meredith Williams scored :14 into the sudden victory OT with a feed from Kelly Mulford.

Sarah Pacini went the distance in goal recording 12 saves.

Flocco led the Dukes with four goals followed by Mulford and Laura App with three each.

The win improved Duquesne's winning streak to six and upped its record to 7-2 and 2-0 in the Atlantic 10. The Bonnies are now 2-2, 0-1 in league play. The Dukes next match is against Massachusetts on Sunday, April 4, 2004, in Amherst, Mass.
