Duquesne (5-4) defeated visiting Davidson (0-9) 10-5 in a non-conference match-up Saturday afternoon on a rainy Rooney Field. Four Dukes hit the back of the cage twice as Laura App, Lauren Mincher, Becca West and Katie Hohn each had two goals. Ginger Flocco led the Dukes with two assists and five caused turnovers. She also added a goal for three points and won two draws. Sarah Pacini recorded six saves on 11 shots on goal.

Becca McDevitt led the Wildcats with two goals and added seven ground balls. Becca Nussbaum recorded six saves on 16 shots on goal for Davidson as well.

Davidson scored first in the 26th minute before Becca West put the Dukes on the board at 21:35 with an unassisted score. Lauren Mincher followed suit at 21:07 from Ginger Flocco's assist for a 2-1 lead. The Wildcats hit three unanswered goals in the 20th, 16th, and 15th minutes for a 4-2 edge. West's free position score at 14:40 sparked a four-goal barrage as Hohn (12:53), Flocco (11:03) and Kelly Mulford (8:00) each hit the back of the cage to take a 6-4 advantage they would take into the break.

App opened the second frame with a free position goal at 20:53 for a 7-4 edge and followed with another at 16:45 to put the Dukes ahead 8-4. Duquesne's Hohn and Mincher each added unassisted goal in the 13th and 5th minutes respectively for a 10-4 advantage. Davidson's lone goal of the frame came in at 4:18 as Allison Matlack scored unassisted.

 

 

The Dukes forced 16 turnovers and recorded 27 ground balls for the game. Davidson committed 27 turnovers and scooped up 24 ground balls. The Wildcats controlled the draw winning 12 to Duquesne's five.

Duquesne will next host Ohio this Tuesday, April 1, at 6:00 pm on Rooney Field.
