The Duquesne lacrosse team opened Atlantic 10 Conference play Friday afternoon, falling at Richmond 20-4. 

Jill Vacanti led Duquesne, converting on two of her three shots of the match, while Maddie Hart recorded a goal and won two draw controls. Kaitlyn DeHaven also netted a goal for the Dukes. 

Richmond's Natalia Chaney led all players with five goals and one assist. 

1ST HALF: Vacanti put Duquesne on the board with 11:50 remaining, and DeHaven would go on to beat Richmond keeper Megan Gianforte 20 seconds later, bringing the score to 7-2 with 11:30 to go. At the 8:48 mark, a foul on UR's Tegan Helms would result in a free position goal for Hart, bringing Duquesne within four goals at 7-4. The Spiders scored an additional six goals, with the score at 13-3 going into halftime. 

2ND HALF: Vacanti added another goal with 23:24 to go, however Richmond would score six goals in the half to seal the victory. 

"Collectively, we need to figure it out. It's not about the X's and O's right now. It's about putting it all together on game day, and we just aren't doing that right now. We know we have the talent to do it. We just need to believe in ourselves and find the will to compete."

The Dukes remain in Richmond to face VCU (4-5, 0-1 A-10) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
