The Duquesne lacrosse team opened Atlantic 10 Conference play Friday afternoon, falling at Richmond 20-4.
Jill Vacanti led Duquesne, converting on two of her three shots of the match, while Maddie Hart recorded a goal and won two draw controls. Kaitlyn DeHaven also netted a goal for the Dukes.
Richmond's Natalia Chaney led all players with five goals and one assist.
1ST HALF: Vacanti put Duquesne on the board with 11:50 remaining, and DeHaven would go on to beat Richmond keeper Megan Gianforte 20 seconds later, bringing the score to 7-2 with 11:30 to go. At the 8:48 mark, a foul on UR's Tegan Helms would result in a free position goal for Hart, bringing Duquesne within four goals at 7-4. The Spiders scored an additional six goals, with the score at 13-3 going into halftime.
2ND HALF: Vacanti added another goal with 23:24 to go, however Richmond would score six goals in the half to seal the victory.
