Dukes Win Atlantic 10 Opener Over GW, 19-12

Amanda Kidder scores seven goals and Clare Hurley and Caitlin Prince each added three as Duquesne won its Atlantic 10 opener, 19-12 over visiting George Washington Friday afternoon on Rooney Field.

The Dukes improved to 10-1 overall in winning its ninth straight contest.

The first half was tightly contested as the Dukes took a 7-5 lead into the intermission. The Red and Blue however scored the first five goals of the second half to take a 12-5 lead. GW would get no closer than a five point deficit the rest of the game.

Lib Lowry led the Dukes with three assists, Hurley had game honors with seven dra controls and Melissa Hanson had a team-high three ground balls. Kristen Gregory made seven saves and gathered two ground balls in earning her ninth win.

The Dukes return to action on Sunday, April 6 as they travel to George Mason for a noon contest.
