Trailing 1-0, a pair of Carson goals 70 seconds apart gave the Dukes their first lead with 19 minutes remaining in the first half.

Ashley Wood would score Duquesne's final goal of the half at the 13:25 mark, as the Dukes hung onto a 6-5 halftime lead.
Carson opened the second half with her fourth goal of the match before the Bonnies' Keri Vito found the back of the net two times in 66 seconds to tie the game at 7-7. The Dukes regained the lead on Meghan Frederick's unassisted goal, but consecutive goals from Vito and Christine Hanley gave SBU a 9-8 advantage with 4:13 left.
With 57 remaining in regulation, Carson put the ball past St. Bonaventure keeper Eboni Preston to tie the score at 9-9. The match would go into overtime.
