The Duquesne lacrosse team fell 13-12 in a hard-fought battle at Davidson Saturday afternoon, with Rilee Bradshaw and Jill Vacanti combining for six goals.
Emily McMinimee matched Davidson keeper Rose Woolson with nine saves in the match. Additionally, Sarah Kollhoff had two goals and a team-high six shots. Duquesne recorded 20 ground balls to Davidson's 16 for the day, and forced six caused turnovers total.
Davidson's Christine Molinari had a game-high five goals, with Nicole Pettiglio adding four goals for the Wildcats.
1H: Back-to-back goals from Bradshaw and Tess Drotar put the Dukes ahead 2-0 with 27:47 on the clock, before Davidson would answer at 24:56, making it a 2-1 match. Three unanswered Duquesne goals would extend the Dukes lead to 5-1 with 15:24 remaining, and the Dukes would maintain the advantage for the remainder of the half, leading 10-7 by halftime.
2H: Davidson opened the half with a goal at the 29:24 mark, but Bradshaw would respond, scoring with 27:21 to go, and extending the Dukes lead to 11-8. A pair of Davidson goals brought the Wildcats within one at 11-10 with 22:43 to go, however Bradshaw would find the back of the net again with 13:25 remaining to put Duquesne ahead 12-10. Davidson would score the last three goals of the match, including two with only 2:25 remaining to take the lead and secure the victory.
