Haley Marafioti Scores Four Goals as Lacrosse Defeats Temple, 12-8 at A-10's

Haley Marafioti scored four goals and added an assist as Duquesne's lacrosse team defeated Temple, 12-8 Friday afternoon in the second semifinal of the Atlantic 10 Championship at Massachusetts. The Dukes will face the #13 host Minutewomen Sunday at 1:00 pm. The game will be televised by CBS College Sports Network.

Duquesne jumped out to a 7-1 lead on two goals by Marafioti, two by Clare Hurley and one each by Amanda Kidder, Michelle Morris and Laura Aeschbacher as the Red and Blue took an 8-4 lead into the intermission.

Marafioti tallied two more second half goals with Kidder and Meredith Dunn adding insurance goals. The Duquesne defense clamped down, allowing the Owls just one goal in the final 21:30 of the game as Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year Kristen Gregory made 11 saves.

Morgan Matz tallied a game-high three assists, Haley Marafioti had a game-high four draw controls and four Dukes each had three ground balls.

A win Sunday will give DU its first appearance in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. Duquesne is 0-3 in its previous A-10 Championship games.
