DU Lacrosse Finishes Regular Season With 15-9 Win at La Salle

Duquesne's lacrosse team ended a three-game losing streak at La Salle with a 15-9 victory over the Explorers Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Kaelin Shaw led the Dukes with four goals and an assist. Four Dukes added two goals apiece including Tess Drotar who scored the eventual game-winner with 15 seconds remaining in the first half.

The Red and Blue took a 10-2 lead into the intermission on the strength of a Shaw hat trick. La Salle however cut the lead to 10-6 with 13:35 remaining, then again to 12-8 with 4:04 left before three straight Duquesne goals put the decision out of reach.

Jenna Bishop posted 11 saves in goal, Macy Marafioti had a game-high four ground balls, Kaitlyn DeHaven chipped in a game-high four draw controls and Meredith and Millie Micho each contributed three caused turnovers.

The third-seeded Dukes (9-7, 7-2 A10), will play sixth-seeded Richmond (7-9, 3-6) Thursday, May 5 at 1:00 pm in the opening game of the2016 Atlantic 10 Championship. The Championship is being hosted by Duquesne May 5-8 at Rooney Field.
