Leadership Change Announced for Duquesne Lacrosse
May 4, 2018
PITTSBURGH – Lisa Evans, Duquesne University’s head women’s lacrosse coach for the past two years, will not return for the 2018-19 season.
“Lisa is a tremendous person with great character,” said Director of Athletics Dave Harper. “Her passion for student-athletes was apparent during her time here. Lisa will undoubtedly be successful as she pursues new avenues professionally. We will support her next steps and wish her the best of luck.”
Evans served on former head coach Mike Scerbo’s staff as a volunteer assistant from 2009-14 and full time assistant for two years before assuming head coach duties prior to the 2017 season.
“I’d like to thank Duquesne University athletics for this opportunity and I wish them nothing but the best in the future,” said Evans. “After nine years with this program, I’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to the amazing group of young women who I was fortunate enough to coach.”
Evans’ 2017 team was recognized as an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association/Zag Sports Academic Division I Honors Squad for posting a team GPA above 3.0. Five members of that team were named to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll (2018 honors will be announced in July).
Carlee Braverman, an Evans recruit, was named to the 2018 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
