Aug. 19, 2009
Vacca comes to the Bluff from Robert Morris, where she spent four years as an assistant coach, working primarily with the Colonials' offense and goal keepers.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Lisa to the Duquesne University lacrosse program," said Scerbo. "I have had the pleasure of working with Lisa through the club lacrosse scene and I am very confident that she is going to bring an amazing element to our team this year. She has tremendous experience and knowledge that will help our program move forward."
In addition to her time at RMU, Vacca has coached for five years with the Intrepid Lacrosse Club as well as serving as head coach at Quaker Valley Middle School for three seasons, where she was named 2005 Western Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association coach of the year. She also spent two years coaching field hockey at Shadyside Academy.
As a player, Vacca played four seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, captaining the Panthers for three of those years. She earned her degree in psychology in 2002.
"I am absolutely thrilled to be the newest member of the Duquesne lacrosse team and coaching staff," said Vacca. "I feel very privileged to be coaching alongside Coach Scerbo and Coach Oliver and look forward to the 2010 season. I have a great amount of experience, energy and enthusiasm that I can bring to the table and hope to assist in taking this already terrific program to the next level."
