Duquesne's Season Ended With Loss To Temple

Fourth-seeded Duquesne ended its 2002 season with a 16-4 loss to top-seeded Temple Friday morning in the first semifinal of the Verizon Atlantic 10 Championship at Duquesne's Rooney Field.
Freshman Ginger Flocco (Plymouth Meeting, PA/ Plymouth-Whitemarsh) (left), the A10's current Rookie of the Week, led the Dukes with two goals and four draw controls while junior Lauren Mincher (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) and senior Lauren Dutch (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) each added a goal. Mincher and junior Christi Madden (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) also recorded an assist in the loss while freshman keeper Shelley Rank (Sumneytown, PA/Souderton Area) registered 11 saves.
Temple was led by Noelle Cebron and Patience Synnestvedt with four goals each.
Temple took early control of the contest grabbing a 3-0 lead with 7:53 off the clock and held a 9-0 lead at the half. The Dukes' Flocco put the Red & Blue on the board with an unassisted score in the 44th minute followed by Dutch's goal from Madden at 45:35. Mincher scored for the Dukes in the 54th minute before assisting on Flocco's final goal of the game at 56:20.
The Dukes took 22 shots while recording 18 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
