On Friday, February 24th, the Duquesne Rowing team headed south for a week of training in sunny Orlando, FL. In temperatures that reached the upper 80's and a week of sun the team used its water time wisely to adjust and transfer their work on the erg over the winter to the boat and oar.

Duquesne Rowing head coach Joe Setting has announced the signing of three women that will join the roster in the fall of 2012. Emily Patricia Herzig, Lauren Hughes and Amanda Lynn Wassenberg are the newest Dukes.

On Saturday, November 5th the Duquesne Women were in Fairfax, VA for the Head of the Occoquan in sunny conditions. In what can be deemed one of the best races of the season for its tough competition and curvy course the Dukes showed their speed with many top finishes.

On Saturday the Duquesne Women traveled to Crescent, PA to take part in the Robert Morris Invitational with the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon and Robert Morris University.

On Saturday, October 25th Duquesne women's rowing was in Rochester, NY for the Head of the Genesee Regatta. The Head of the Genesee features a unique head race/sprint format. Crews compete in a 3.1 mile morning head race followed by a 1,500-meter sprint in the afternoon.

This fall marks the 25th anniversary of the inception of Duquesne Rowing. To celebrate this milestone the team hosted its first ever banquet bringing together current rowers, parents, and alumni. The Dukes also participated in the Head of the Ohio.

Rachael Thornton is in her 23rd day at the Under-23 Lightweight Camp. She has been chosen to race in the women's lightweight single at the Under-23 World Trials and will also be racing the lightweight single and a lightweight double at the USRowing Elite National Championships. Both races take place during the week of June 26th.

On Sunday, June 19th upcoming sophomore coxswain Michelle Karkos traveled to Ithaca, NY to take part in the USRowing Freshman camp being held at Cornell University. Michelle is one of three coxswains and about 20 rowers that were chosen from colleges and universities across the country.
