Rowers Participate in Knecht Cup

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Duquesne women's rowing team participated in the Knecht Cup this past weekend on the Cooper River. Three boats advanced to the petit final and several others had strong showings. The regatta featured over 50 schools, including Atlantic 10 foes Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Temple and Fordham.
The varsity 4+ won their heat by 14 seconds with a time of 8:13.0. In the semifinal, the Dukes beat out defending Atlantic 10 champion Massachusetts by over 23 seconds with a time of 8:03.0 to advance to the petit final where they placed fifth crossing in 8:11.2.
The lightweight 8+ had a time of 7:25.0 in their heat to advance to the petit final. DU finished fifth, ahead of Penn State, with a time of 7:28.3.
The novice 8+ team finished third in their heat with a time of 7:37.4. In the semifinals, their time of 7:43.5 advanced them to the petit final, where they improved by over six seconds crossing in 7:37.8 to finish fifth overall.
