Pennsauken, N.J. - Duquesne University women's rowing team finished in eighth place at Saturday's nine-team Atlantic 10 Championships on South Jersey's Cooper River. The Dukes were just three points behind the Temple Owls.

Massachusetts won its 11th straight Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship. The Minutewomen's title streak is the longest in any sport in Atlantic 10 history.

UMass won four of nine races in posting 45 total points. Saint Joseph's placed second with 33 points. Dayton was third with 30 points and Rhode Island finished fourth with 29 points. The Rams were followed by George Washington (21 points), Fordham (14 points), Temple (12 points), Duquesne (9 points), and La Salle (0 points).

George Washington head coach Robert McCracken was named Coach of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches.

The Dukes conclude the 2005-06 season on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, 2006 at the Dad Vail Regatta. The competition on the 2,000 meter course on Philadelphia's Schuylkill River is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and Universities from the U.S. and Canada competing.
